Planning applications – In most situations planning for a
small log cabin is not required.
The rules governing necessary planning changes on a constant basis,
normally you should not have a problem with building a Log Cabin as long
as the ridge height is less than 4 meters. We recommend that you contact
your local planning authority (call your local town hall and ask for the
planning department) and ask them if your Log Cabin would be a permitted
build on your land.
As a guideline a new building must not exceed 10% of the size of the
main residence on the property. In addition, the Log Cabin cannot have a
ridge height taller than 4 meters (ca. 13 feet). Consult your local
planning office if uncertain.
In
some cases, if for example you are building a second home or large Log
Cabin on your property, a planning application will have to be submitted
and approved by your local council. We can submit a planning application
for you and give this our best attention in order to achieve a
successful result.
